It’s not every day that a stranger is invited into an artist’s home and given a preview of their upcoming work. Gabriella Chavez of Seamstress and I had not met in person prior to my arrival. Her other half in both life and music, Charlie Syztk, joined us at their table before Gabriella and I took advantage of the late afternoon light outside.
There is something incredibly special about photographing someone in their own space – where they create memories and art, where they laugh and cry, where they live out the mundane and celebrate the extraordinary. There are stories in the foliage peeking over the fence, the old pickup in the driveway, the guitars hanging on the walls. Gabriella not only let me capture her; she let me capture her world.
It is wonderfully humbling when I am trusted to “do what I do.” I’m very grateful to Gabriella and Charlie and beyond excited for their new music to be released in the coming months!
